KODY Garland is convinced that he has done enough to win the Aussie Racing Cars Super Series Championship if no more races are held this year. The 20-year-old from Tinonee is the current leader, half a point ahead of his closest rivals. There has been no race since May due to complications caused by COVID-19 lockdowns and border closures. It was hoped that a round would be added to the program of the Bathurst 1000, a six-day auto racing extravaganza to be held from November 30 to December 5. However, Garland and his colleagues will not be racing in Bathurst. “They don’t want us,” he said. “I recently spoke to the Category Manager and he is preparing us for a race in Adelaide in December. This is the last chance we will have this year.” Logistically, Garland thinks the series is unlikely to head to South Australia. “The majority of the field is from Queensland and they will need to be quarantined upon their return from Adelaide,” he said. He pointed out. If there’s no more racing this year, Garland thinks he’s done enough to win the championship. RELATED: Kody competes in Australian racing cars “We raced 60% of the season, “he argued. Three laps were completed before the series was suspended. Initially, the championship was to be held in six rounds, but was later reduced to five. Former kart champion, Garland is in his second season of Aussie Cars after making his debut in 2019, where he finished eighth overall and was named Rookie of the Year. There has been no race in 2020. He opened this season with a win at Mt Panorama in February and followed with a runner-up in Tasmania in April. Garlan d went on to claim another victory at Eastern Creek in the third round in May. He said the third lap was down from four races to one for a variety of reasons, including heavy fog, and the points were cut in half. Garland qualified in fourth place but took the lead on the penultimate lap. Garland has yet to announce where he will race in 2022. He wants 2021 to be sorted first.
