Jaguar Heritage racing cars to take part in the 2013 Mille Miglia

With the 2014 Jaguar F-Type recently drawing the automotive world’s attention to the company’s sports car past, the brand is capitalizing on that attention as it plans to use a trio of C-Types and an XK120 in the Mille Miglia 2013.

The Mille Miglia is no longer the open, unrestricted road racing it once was, but the classic car circuit is still a spectacle of racing history.

Legendary Formula One driver Juan Manuel Fangio’s Type C will even be present, as will a handful of famous athletes and racers, including Le Mans winner Andy Wallace and Alex Buncombe of Jaguar Heritage Racing.

By pairing the C-Type and XK120 with its current products, Jaguar will also have five F-Types along the route as support and show cars.

“Jaguar’s entry into the Mille Miglia in 1952 was extremely important in the evolution of Jaguar products. Attractive design, intelligent performance and technological innovation were hallmarks of all Jaguar sports cars in the 1950s. and 60 and they are prevalent in the incredible new F-TYPE, “said Bernard Kuhnt, Jaguar Regional Director for Europe.

A preview of Jaguar’s entry into this year’s 2013 Mille Miglia can be seen in the video above. The tour runs from May 16 to 19.
