Dallas Police Trying To Identify Race Cars That Killed Woman Walking Dog

A woman walking her dog in east Dallas was killed on Nov. 26 by a car involved in a street race, and the Dallas Police Department is asking for help identifying the drivers.

Linda Pearson, 73, was walking her dog and crossing Ferguson Road near Highwood Drive in the Casa View neighborhood when she was hit.

According to a DPD statement, two cars were driving on Ferguson Road around 2:15 pm A black Chevrolet Impala was racing with a yellow Chevrolet Camaro heading south on 10100 Ferguson Rd.

Surveillance video from a nearby house showed the cars racing ahead of impact.

The driver of the Chevrolet Impala crashed into it; she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dog was still alive after the accident, but had been seriously injured and was taken to a veterinarian.

The two cars fled, did not stop and did not come to help. Now detectives from the Vehicle Crimes Department are looking for the two vehicles:

  • The Chevrolet Impala is believed to be a 2014-2020 LTX / Premier model. The vehicle will have chrome side mirror caps and chrome body side moldings. This could damage the headlight and the front passenger’s fog light.
  • The Chevrolet Camaro is yellow with a black racing stripe on the hood.

Residents of the Casa View neighborhood have observed an increase in street racing and “donuts” in recent years, especially along multi-lane highways like Ferguson Road and Oates Drive.
