While it may not seem like much, driving a car straight for a quarter mile at full throttle can be dangerous to both the driver and the vehicle, as most have a tendency to explode. When they’re not blowing up, however, drag racing can be a place filled with the world’s fastest cars. To show how fast they can be, here are ten of the fastest drag racing cars ever made (production and professional) …

10. 2019 Tesla Model S

When you think of the fastest drag cars, think of Top Fuel class cars and absolute missiles flying on the tarmac. However, not all great drag cars are easy to notice, like the latest Tesla Model S for example.

Tesla, as a company, takes pride in creating affordable, eco-friendly and luxurious cars. What’s really impressive, however, is how they manage to do all of this while doing it quickly. Model S’s all-electric setup delivers instant torque and 0-60 speed in under three seconds. Without the factory limiter it could also go much faster than 155 MPH

9. Bugatti Veyron 16.4

In the mid-2000s, the automotive community would change forever with the revival of Bugatti. In their upcoming success, Bugatti created the Veyron 16.4: one of the Top speedfavorite cars of and world record holder for the fastest production car for several years.

With a top speed of over 267 miles per hour, a 0 to 60 of just 2.5 seconds, and a price tag of over $ 1 million, the Bugatti quickly became a symbol of opulence and prowess. ‘engineering. To this day, Bugatti owes the Veyron for its continued success and dominant market share.

8. Lamborghini Huracan bi-turbo

Out of the box, Lamborghinis are already incredibly fast, and few are able to compete at their level. However, one customer thought that would not do the trick; adding a bi-turbo setup to their Lamborghini Huracan to really push their limits.

During the Underground Racing meeting at Pikes Peak, this Huracan showed up to destroy the competition. In the end, that’s exactly what it did, reaching over 258 MPH and becoming one of the fastest Lamborghini V10s in the world.

7. Dodge Challenger Demon

In 2015, Dodge decided to make a monster car: the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. It was an incredibly fast version of the standard Challenger, gathering many fans. With all this support, Dodge would go even further with the successor to the Hellcat.

The new kid in town would be called the Challenger Demon, and he’s no slouch. As its name suggests, the Demon is a true monster of over 800 horsepower. Right now, the Challenger Hellcat is one of the fastest quarter-mile production cars (even though the NHRA disqualified it).

It’s very cool to think of, especially when you realize that it has more horsepower than a Lamborghini at a fraction of the price.

6. Rimac Concept 1

As with the Tesla Model S, electric power has proven to be an excellent conductor for competitive 1/4 mile times and acceleration (due to the electric’s instant torque delivery). With this new technology, many manufacturers adopted it and were born from it. This includes the nascent Rimac.

Currently Rimac has a new car in the works, the C_Two, but as no official figures have been released / tested, it cannot be included here. However, their first car, the Concept 1, is a great indicator of their future achievements. For those who watch The Grand Tour, you are already aware of the domination of the Rimac in a straight line; be able to beat both a Lamborghni Aventador S and a Honda NSX. Hopefully their new car will impress even more.

5. Larry “Spiderman” McBride’s AMA Drag Bike

Although not technically a “car,” this bike is worth mentioning when talking about fast vehicles. In fact, McBride’s drag bike still holds the title of one of the fastest motorcycles in the world.

In 2010, McBride managed to get the Spiderman-themed motorcycle up to over 245 miles per hour in a quarter mile. Yet the AMA Spiderman Bike is hailed as one of the best racing vehicles in the drag series. Of course, it’s always a bonus when you have a superhero next to your racing toy.

4. The Nissan GT-R from Alpha Logic Performance

As more enthusiasts used the affordable (in comparison) Nissan GT-R to beat cars like Ferraris, Lamborghini and many more on highways around the world, more and more professional drag racing professionals have saw the potential of the GT-R for the track. As such, a company called Alpha Logic Performance was up to the task.

Dubai-based Alpha Logic Performance still holds the title of fastest GT-R in the world, although it doesn’t come easily. To bring their Nissan up to 232 MPH and a 6.5+ quarter-mile time, it took over 3,400 horsepower and a driver with a lot of courage. With all of this, however, the GT-R was a blow to the record.

3. EKanoo Racing Outlaw Supra

Similar to Alpha Logic Performance, EKanoo Racing is an independent company interested in making absurdly fast drag racers. They’ve built a lot of drag-specific vehicles, but one of their coolest is their Outlaw Toyota Supra.

It seems that at first glance, the Supra is a better platform for drag racing than the GTR, given its higher speed of 240+ MPH and a quarter-mile time under. six seconds. What’s even better, however, is the fact that the Supra managed to do it all with the same base engine as the stock car: a 2JZ-GTE.

2. Robert Hight’s NHRA “Funny Car”

In the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) there are several interesting racing classes. Their vehicles are amazingly fast and even have comical names to go with them, especially the “Funny Car” series.

Don’t let the name fool you, however. These Funny Cars may look strange, but are arguably the fastest vehicles on the planet. The fastest, however, is owned by Robert Hight and his Funny Car which hit a top speed of 339 miles per hour. Even trying to think about going that fast can make your head spin, just imagine being in that seat (if only for a few seconds).

1. Army top fuel dragster

Each category of motorsport has its respective giants, those who are the kings of their sporting field. For circuit racing, it’s Formula 1. For drifting, it’s Formula Drift and IndyCar for oval tracks. Drag racing also has its own take on its fastest class, the Top Fuel series.

Top Fuel dragsters are the ultimate drag racing cars. They cater for all categories: ultra-thin bodywork, huge rear tires, engines as big as a sedan, tiny front tires and top speed record after top speed record. Of these cars, the fastest belongs to Tony Schumacher’s Army brand car (No connection to Michael), with a final result of 336.5 MPH and 3.6 in the second quarter.
